Made with love in Nashville, TN.

Thank you so much for your interest in my craft.

Woodworking has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I grew up “helping” my dad in his shop.  He always took the time to teach me how to read the wood, work the tools and turn lumber into usable products.  Most of the time, we would cut various pieces that my mother would paint and give as treasured gifts.  As a result, I like to gift in the same way.  In outfitting my own needs, I choose handmade over factory built whenever I can.

The story of my shop is simple: I build the things I need or want.  Friends and family saw my creations and asked me to make them similar things.  My small workshop in the garage continues to be a place where I build the things I need.  The difference is now I get the enjoyment of sharing some of my crafts with others.  This is not my career; it is a fun and enriching passion project.  It serves as an escape at times and is often therapeutic.

I am always a little surprised when a person tells me how much they love something I have created.  As for my “art,” I tend to focus more on function than on form.  There is so much beauty in something that is lovingly crafted for a simple purpose like stirring a hearty stew.  Growing up with an art teacher for a mom, I have been exposed to art and culture.  While I appreciate most art, I have always found the imperfections and pure functionality to be some of the most beautiful features.

I only use certain woods in my projects.  These materials have a proven history of performing well in cutting boards, utensils and furniture.  I only like to make these items in a certain way.  My hope is that these humble pieces be handed down for generations and used long after I am gone.  My favorite past times are family and friends gathered around a kitchen as meals are prepared, stories are told, and memories are made.  I love to think that I am helping to create similar memories for others.
